GEON® Performance Solutions Showcased Innovative Solutions at SPE® TPO Global Automotive Conference 2024

October 8, 2024 – GEON® Performance Solutions, a global leader in engineered polymer solutions, successfully participated in this week’s 2024 SPE® TPO Global Automotive Conference in Troy, Michigan. The event is the world’s leading engineered polyolefins forum on the use of rigid, flexible and elastomeric thermoplastic polyolefins and polyolefin compounds in the automotive and mobility industries and featured over 70 presentations.

 

As a trusted supplier of innovative polymer solutions, GEON Performance Solutions exhibited for the third time. With a focus on sustainability, performance, and innovation, GEON continued to push the boundaries of material science, supporting automotive manufacturers in achieving their goals in electrification, efficiency, and environmental responsibility with its RESILIENCE® line of polypropylene (PP) and thermoplastic polyolefins (TPOs).

GEON’s Dr. Haibo Zhao, Senior Staff Engineer, delivered a technical presentation on the latest developments in polyolefin materials and part design in electric vehicle “frunks”, the area which usually houses the engine and auxiliary components, now being made available for cargo and everyday use. Designers for these frunks look for critical design properties in their materials such as dimensional stability, processability, stiffness and impact balance, cold temperature ductility, and scratch and mar resistance.

GEON's RESILIENCE® portfolio is designed to meet the evolving needs of sustainable and advanced material applications for frunks. Featuring lightweight materials with easy processing capabilities due to high melt flow, these products also deliver superior heat deflection temperatures, ensuring durability under high-stress conditions.

The RESILIENCE® range provides high stiffness and impact resistance, offering an excellent balance of properties for a variety of demanding applications. The portfolio includes the RESILIENCE® ORGANICS line, which incorporates recycled resin or fillers with RESILIENCE® R, and the RESILIENCE® BIO family, which uses bio-reinforcing materials to replace traditional mineral fillers. The 2024 SPE TPO Global Automotive Conference brought together industry leaders, material suppliers, and automotive OEMs to discuss the future of mobility, electrification, sustainability, and the dynamic trends shaping the automotive landscape.
